College Counseling at College Karma
IGAP - Ivy Guaranteed Admissions Program
Frequently Asked Questions
What's
the difference between IGAP and your other college counseling packages?
IGAP stands for Ivy Guaranteed Admission Program, but it isn't restricted to Ivy League colleges. In short, IGAP comes with a money-back guarantee if the applicant, once accepted into IGAP, doesn't get into his or her first choice or second choice school.
The services that are part of IGAP differ, too. Here are a few of the ways:
1. Your IGAP Team. You will work exclusively with College Karma director Dave Berry and a second senior counselor, who will both be involved in all aspects of your application process. Multiple viewpoints will simulate a real-world admissions committee review.
2. Unlimited Essay Help. IGAP participants get unlimited essay help, even when multiple unique major essays are required. Also included is assistance with those short, but important, narrative responses ("What did you do this past summer?" etc.). Note: Scholarship essays and/or other writing requirements that fall beyond the scope of the formal application are not included as part of the IGAP service.
3. Special Parent Assistance. Going through the elite admissions process can be stressful for parents, too. Most parents haven't been through an elite admissions regimen before, so our IGAP team works with parents as well as with students.
Why should I believe your claims?
Don't take our word for it. Read our testimonials. If you're still not convinced, we'll arrange for you to contact some of our past clients directly. We're proud of our track record and are happy to share it with you.
What do you mean by "guaranteed admission"?
Guaranteed means just that. We're so confident of our IGAP clients' success that we're willing to bet our fee on it. Of course you have to do the work; we're not going to do it for you. We provide the guidance and the assignments. You provide the effort and follow-through. Follow our instructions, and you'll be accepted into at least one of your IGAP college choices.* If not, you'll get your entire College Karma fee back.
*Yale aspirants must select three top-choice colleges.
Why do I have to be "accepted" into the program?
We know who is qualified and who isn't. We don't want to waste your time, our time, and especially your money. If we feel that your profile doesn't qualify you to compete in the admission pools of your two candidate colleges, we'll tell you immediately and candidly. However, even if you're not accepted into IGAP, we can still help you realize a highly successful college application process through our other admissions services. (Note - not being accepted into IGAP doesn't mean that you shouldn't apply to your original school choices. Rather, it means that our evaluation places them well into the "reach" category for your current profile, and that we would recommend targeting additional colleges that offer a higher probability of admission.)
When should I apply for the IGAP?
In order to assess a student's qualifications properly for the IGAP, we need as much information as possible from rising seniors. Therefore, we accept IGAPplications (as we call them) only during the summer between junior and senior year, after all junior-year numerical data is complete (AP exam scores, SATs (both I and II), ACT, etc.). We do not accept IGAPplications any earlier than this.
What are the specific conditions of this deal?
Read the IGAP Terms and Conditions and our Services Warranty Disclaimer. We've tried very hard to make everything as complete and understandable as possible. If there's anything you don't understand, just contact us and we'll explain it. Our goal is completeness and clarity.
Why Must Yale Aspirants Choose Three IGAP Schools?
Our years of experience enable us to understand what the hyper-selective admission committees are seeking. But, over the years, we've found Yale University decisions the hardest to predict. Sure, we've had many IGAP students admitted to Yale, but we won't stake our fees on a fat envelope from New Haven.
How is your application counseling process different than my school counselor's?
Your counselor may have dozens or, most likely, hundreds of other students to manage. Maybe you are a senior and your counselor is new this year. That can be a problem for highly competitive applicants. Also, many high school counselors are not familiar with America's elite colleges, let alone accomplished in the fundamentals of student profile marketing, essay techniques, application management, and other crucial details.
We are successful college admission specialists with a track record to prove it. Our clients have been accepted to virtually all the U.S. News Top-25 colleges and universities. Plus, we've matched many other seniors with great schools that they hadn't considered prior to working with us. We hone in on what makes you stand out in the crowd - talents or achievements you might not have ever thought would be of interest to admission officials (but they are!). We answer your questions right away. You won't be waiting around for us to respond. We'll make you work hard to perfect your applications. In today's ultra-competitive college applicant pools, only the well prepared succeed. We're not high school guidance counselors. We're college admissions experts whose single-minded purpose is to help you realize your goals.
How can I pay?
We accept major credit cards through our secure site for your Stats Evaluation fee. (Please note your interest in IGAP in the Comments section of the Stats Evaluation.)
